About the
Blackwater Bungalow
DESCRIPTION
We rent the fully furnished house three nights minimum, by the week or month to responsible guests.
The house has three bedrooms, one full bath/laundry room with washer and dryer, and one half bath.
The kitchen opens onto a large living-dining area, creating a great-room effect. Glass doors open to a spacious patio overlooking the river. See photos of the living room & dining room
The full kitchen has all the essentials, including a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Basic seasonings and condiments are on hand. Just bring your favorite ingredients to prepare wonderful meals. Murchison has a good grocery store and quality fresh produce, meat and fish. See photo of the kitchen
The master has a queen-sized bed and is the best place to enjoy the nighttime lull of the river’s song. The other two bedrooms look out to native gardens, and each sleeps two comfortably in twin beds and a double/single bunk combination. All linens are provided.
A short walk through a canopy of native bush leads to our private, sandy beach with a delightfully clear, deep pool, a perfect swimming environment ever-refreshed by the river’s gentle current.

The house is surrounded by native bush and native gardens. The tropical splendor encourages New Zealand’s bird life. Tuis, keas, fantails, pukeko and the fabled bell bird can all be seen and heard in our tranquil valley. The ability to enjoy hiking, climbing, fishing, kayaking and biking within steps of our door, without need of a car, is a wonderful feature of our home. Motoring from the house offers a vast array of adventures, from mountains to rainforest to ocean!

“Our family loved your comfy cottage. Adam and Lisa, our kids played in the yard and on the beach for hours as Nell and I relaxed on the patio above. Murchison is a great little authentic town. Thanks so much!”

“We came to fish for the wily browns so famous on the South Island. What an adventure we had. Kathryn caught her fish of a lifetime and mine got away. We’ve already booked for next year.”

“My new bride and I wanted something really New Zealandish, real, not flashy. We sure found it at your place in the peaceful Mangles Valley. So tranquil and a garden ripe for the picking. We relaxed right into it and never wanted to leave.”

“We’re so pleased to have found your get-a-way. Our kids took kayaking lessons as we fished the nearby streams with great success. We hiked as a family and enjoyed the lakes and black swans. Golf and a wine tour rounded out our vacation of a lifetime. Thanks so much for providing your tidy home.”
